Do you really want to lose weight?

Try “The 7-14 Diet”

One of the biggest reasons for the abundance of misinformation in the world is the unfortunate tendency we humans have to believe what we wish were true, instead of what makes sense. Nowhere is this more prevalent than in the field of diet and weight-loss. People want to believe they can lose weight while eating all the food they want, and there is no shortage of “experts” who are eager to exploit this tendency for a profit. Think about it for a moment, if you wanted to sell a boat-load of diet books for example, what would you tell your potential customers? Would you say “It is difficult to lose weight. It requires discipline, sacrifice and work”? Or would you tell them “Eat all you want of your favorite foods, and you will effortlessly transform your body into a fat-burning machine”?
Large corporate “weight loss systems,” who’s business depends on having members pay them to be weighed every week, tell another tale. They would have us believe that to lose weight we must make “gradual” changes in our diet. If we cut a few calories every day, we will lose a pound a week. This is the only “safe” way to achieve “long term” weight loss, we are told. What they really want is long term customers. Do you know of anyone who has succeeded with one of these plans? Even the people in their advertisements are fat! Sure, they are less fat than they once were, but would anyone want to look like them? Keep in mind also, these are the best examples they could find to use in their marketing campaigns, and they have millions of customers from which to choose!

Why do we get fat?

To understand why so many people  struggle with excess weight today, it is necessary to look to the subject of evolutionary biology. Our early ancestors appeared on earth 2.3 million years ago. Our bodies have not changed in 200,000 years, but our environment has changed drastically in just the last 100 years. If you are reading this, chances are you live in a country where food is plentiful. Our ancestors were not so fortunate. For them it was likely “feast or famine”. When food was available, primitive man ate his fill, the excess being stored as fat on his body for use at a later time. When food was scarce, the body would subsist on the stored fat. This adaptation greatly enhanced man’s ability to survive and reproduce. Those that had this ability passed it on to their offspring and those that didn’t died out. This trait survives in us today, though it is no longer needed.
Because of evolution, our bodies “want” to store fat for later use. Also, the body will resist using the stored fat unless it is really needed. If you wish to reduce your body-fat, you must force your body to use it, its as simple as that. If we could lose weight by eating more food, as we have been lead to believe, everyone would have the body of a Hollywood movie star. Yes, there are those folks who can eat all they want and not gain weight. People like that are the lucky few who remind us that life is not fair. For the rest of us, the only way to lose weight is to eat less, a lot less.
Each year, tens of thousands of people get “gastric bypass” or “lap band” type surgery. We do not recommend this, but they all lose weight. They are forced to eat only small portions of food, so naturally, the weight comes off. How ironic that the medical establishment, who advise against low calorie, or low carb diets have no problem with this method when they can get rich from it. The point is, restricting food intake will lead to fat loss.

So, what is the solution?

We have uncovered a diet plan that will force your body to use it’s stored fat reserves as quickly as possible. It’s called “The 7-14 Diet” and here’s how it works;  for the first 7 days, consume one 16-ounce glass of V8 juice for breakfast, lunch and dinner. This works out to 300 calories and 60 grams of carbohydrates per day. Then, for the next 14 days, eat a moderate low-carb diet (about 100 carbs per day) and around 1500-1800 calories, depending on how much you weigh. Repeat this process until you achieve your desired weight.

What you can expect;

During the juice phase you WILL lose weight, there is simply no way that you can not. Anywhere from 10 to 15 pounds on average. During the eating phase you will gain some back, this is to be expected, 3-5 pounds on average. It will take the body 48 hours to switch form using sugar for fuel to using fat. During this time you may experience sleepiness, hunger, or low energy. After that, your hunger should subside and your energy level will return to normal.

Is it hard to stick with?

Everybody is different. Some will find it easy and, some will not. We recommend finding a friend or relative to diet with you at the same time so you may support each-other. Also, read “The Simple Secret of Successful Dieting And Weight Loss That Really Works.” This book will help motivate you to stay with your diet. It is available on Amazon Kindle for $3.99, or in book form for $12.99. here is the link;

But won’t this ruin my metabolism?

If you were to eat a very low calorie diet for an extended period of time, say a month or more, your body would compensate by decreasing the size of your muscle mass in order to require less energy. Marathon runners experience this phenomenon. That is why you should limit the low cal phase to 7 days, as this is too short of a time for your body to make that change. By eating moderately for 14 days, the body will adjust to its leaner form in a more gradual way. As you repeat the cycle, the body will “learn” to use the fat stores for fuel while preserving muscle mass.

But isn’t it better to lose weight slowly?

This is one of those things people want to believe, but in fact, the “gradual” method to lose weight rarely works. The body is resistant to burning fat. If you make a small change, you might lose a little weight at first (especially if you are very overweight to begin with) but the body soon adjusts to it, and you lose no more. It is the same situation with exercise. When you start an exercise program, you will see results at first, but soon the body becomes accustomed to it and the results stop. Consequently,  you have to continue to exercise more and more. Also, not seeing any real results in a reasonable amount of time, will cause frustration and failure. Who wants to stay on a diet for a year to lose 30 pounds, when you could do so much quicker?

Tips;

-Use common sense! If this is new to you, and you really don’t feel well during the diet, by all means stop! Try to work up to the full 7 days in smaller increments.

-If you have health problems, consult a physician prior to starting any diet or exercise plan.

-Try to keep active. Continue to exercise if you currently do, but don’t over exert yourself. Pay attention to what your body is telling you, and act accordingly.

-If you work a 9 to 5 job, eat a good dinner Thursday night, and start the diet on Friday. This way, day 2 (usually the toughest) will be on Saturday, and you can take it easy, if need be. By Monday you should be adjusted, and able to go to work, as usual.

-Take a fiber supplement like Metamucil, or some generic equivalent, to keep your elimination regular.

-Drink water or tea when you feel thirsty. There is no need to force yourself to drink a specific amount.

-If you feel you must, you can have a piece of celery or a dill pickle spear now and then, but don’t make this a habit, as it might lead to more cheating.

-Good luck and be well!
