The Awesome Power of Accurate Information
By Victoria Steele
Since the dawn of mankind, the one vital factor that has most determined whether an individual or a society has succeeded or failed was practical knowledge. Indeed, even in primitive cultures this was the case. The caveman who mastered fire and invented the wheel and the spear, had a tremendous advantage over those that did not. If two such tribes were to meet in battle, the tribe with the best technology and weapons would invariably conquer the one with limited, or no weapons at all. With inadequate weapons and know-how, the tribe’s ability to hunt and trap animals would be severely limited and often result in starvation and death.
When the European explorers first traveled to the new world in the 1500s, they were met by the indigenous peoples who lived there at the time. While some of them had developed advanced civilizations and knowledge of many things, their weaponry and experience in warfare were far behind that of the Europeans. As a result, they were easily conquered and relieved of their gold and lands. (I sometimes wonder how many more years it would have taken the European people to become aware of the existence of the Americas had Columbus and his crew encountered hostile natives with advanced weapons. If they had been killed, and never returned to Europe, the news of their discovery would, obviously, have never reached home and they would have been presumed lost at sea.)
In 1945, The United States became the most powerful nation on earth at the end of World War II with the detonation of the atomic bomb. If any other nation had obtained that technology first, the rest of the world would have been at their mercy, and the world would likely be a much different place than it is today. As long as the U.S. was the only country with this vital knowledge, they would be omnipotent. A few short years later, the USSR came into possession of the secret of atomic weaponry and instantly became equally powerful, all because of a shift of information.
In 1929, before the stock market crash that plunged the world into the “Great Depression” of the 1930s, there were those with inside information of the impending crash who preserved and expanded their wealth and prosperity on the basis of that knowledge. Also, if this knowledge was available to everybody, the panic and sell-off would have occurred sooner than it did.
The ability to read, which most of us take for granted today, was once (not that long ago) reserved only for the privileged few. The slave owners in the pre-1865 USA deliberately forbade their slaves from learning to read. They knew that with this ability it would be much more difficult, if not impossible, to keep the slaves in bondage.
Knowledge, by its very nature, is more potent when the least amount of people have access to it. The more people who become aware of a secret, the less powerful the secret becomes. It is for this reason that those who possess vital knowledge tend to keep it to themselves. In the “information age” of 2013, with such easy internet access for everybody, how do those with inside information keep it from the rest of us? We shall see in a moment…
Money Power and Sex
Have you ever noticed the peculiar ways in which people behave when any of these three subjects arises? Usually, their actions are quite different than their words. These are three “hot button” topics that are closely related. If you have money, for example, you can buy power (political, weaponry, security, information etc.) and sex. If you have power and influence, you can easily charge people lots of money for its usage, or simply take money from others, as the governments of the world do to the people, corporations and other nations, in the form of taxes, tariffs, fines, penalties, tolls, licensing fees, etc. Also, if one has power, members of the opposite sex will tend to be attracted to them as if by magic.
There have been innumerable cases, all throughout history, of both men and women who have used their sexuality or romantic abilities, either with members of their own, or the opposite sex, to either sleep or marry their way into positions of wealth and power. By the same token, many a prominent politician, businessman, pro golfer or religious leader has been brought down and dis-empowered through a sex scandal.
If you think of two of the most revered and beloved public figures of the 20th century, namely Jackie Kennedy-Onassis and Princess Diana, you would see many similarities, but the main thing they have in common is how they rose to prominence and virtual immortality. I mean no disrespect to the memory of either woman, on the contrary I have the greatest respect for them, but what they both did in order to achieve enormous fame, fortune and power was to simply attract and marry several wealthy and powerful men. Think about it. They both became so rich and powerful that they were able to use their (husband’s) power and wealth to create a persona and image of themselves that resulted in an adoration by the public that endures to this day.
If the average woman were to openly use her sexuality to get ahead in the world, people would call her a “slut” or a “whore” or a “gold digger” among other things. Yet, at the same time, people like Cher, Madonna and Marilyn Monroe (to name a very few) have enjoyed incredible success doing just that. Do you see the irony there? Men who do so are labeled “gigolo” or “womanizer” and are talked about by others in a very negative light.
Why is it, do you imagine, that those who openly seek to obtain money in an honest endeavor, are so often scorned, criticized and persecuted by their fellow man? We label such people as “greedy” and “selfish.” Why are the rich so often vilified and presumed to be evil by the rest of the population? Why do people say things like “money can’t buy happiness” and “money is the root of all evil?” People who have money are made to feel guilty that they have so much, while others have so little. People have to pretend to not want money, when it is the very thing that represents success and achievement the world over (there is that irony again).
The same phenomenon holds true for those seeking power. We call them “megalomaniacs” or accuse them of being a “cult leader” and say “power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely,” yet when we are around them, most of us are captivated by their charisma and treat them with the utmost respect and deference.
The truth is that (almost) everybody craves money, power and sex, but most will not admit to it. One reason that they won’t admit to it is because of the stigma attached to it. The reason the stigma is attached is because those who perpetuate the stigma want to get and keep all the power, money and sex FOR THEMSELVES! They try to convince others that these things are not desirable or socially acceptable so that there is more available for them, and less competition from you! So not only do most people desire these things, they actively try to prevent others from getting them!
In the olden times, people were forced into peasantry and subservience by those with more power and money. They had no chance for advancement. Now, in the free world, there is equal opportunity and access to information for everybody. In today’s world, the best way for those who are craving money, power and sex to keep you powerless, celibate and broke, is to convince you, through the distribution of misinformation, to choose to stay that way! The most amazing thing is that most of the time it works. Misinformation is everywhere today, and we at The Insider’s News believe it is the biggest factor keeping the average person from achieving health, wealth, happiness, and success.
